Carp Fair

60801D29-C87C-4C0F-A2BC-9857F35E4996 (2)                                                     It is Carp Fair time again!  Beautiful weather for it too.  We’re open at home this weekend and we’ll be back at the Carp Farmer’s Market from October 3 to 31.  Cortlands are new on the shelves this week.  Please note that we are not a pick your own orchard.

If you want to avoid the traffic in the village of Carp this week we recommend taking the 417 to exit 155 (March Rd: Almonte & Carp)  and turning towards Carp.  Turn left onto Diamondview beside the Shell station and go about 7km until you  turn right onto Thomas Dolan Parkway and then right onto Carp Rd. right beside our place.  Google it before heading out!

Crabapple Jelly

We’ve had a few requests for directions for making crabapple jelly and we’ve never made it ourselves!  We’ve got two crabapple varieties in the store right now.   We think Jonathan gives a good, quick idea of what to do.  Or try to find an old family recipe, an old cookbook or ask someone at work for advice!

Let us know how you make out.

Macs are here!

lt looks like fall on our porch and we’ve added Macs and Honey Crisp apples to the shelves starting this week!   We need some cooler weather for the apples to get nicely coloured and ready to pick!  Shorts and sundresses shouldn’t be autumn outfits yet that’s what everyone in the store right now is wearing!

We’ve been trying to find some tasty ready to bake apple pies to add to Leslie’s apple crisp and pumpkin pies in our freezer.   We found some great people!  Coronation Hall in Bristol is going to supply us with apple pies and apple crumble pies for the freezer!  They will also supply us with cookies and muffins along with some of their yummy apple butter and preserves!

Happy Labour Day Weekend!

We wish everyone a happy and safe labour day weekend!   We’re open our usual hours and will be closed on on Monday for a much needed chance to catch up!

We’ve got Lobos on the shelf today along with Paula Red, Gingergold, crabapples and cider,  gifts and garlic.
